Optus asked us to help spread the word about their new mobile payment solution, ‘Cash by Optus’ and convince Australians of the benefit of making mobile payments from a company that isn’t a bank.

Our Solution

To help educate media on the benefits of using their phone for mobile payments and highlighting as an Australian telco first, we held a media and influencer event which helped bring to life the real, tangible consumer benefits of using a service like ‘Cash by Optus’.

We also leveraged three influencers by engaging them to create buzz and excitement around Optus’ cash solution, as well as utilising partners Visa and Heritage Bank to raise awareness of a non-bank launching a near-field communication solution.

The activity resulted in strong national coverage across broadcast, print and online coverage, reaching an audience of over 4 million plus more than 10,000 social engagements. Thanks to the coverage generated, Optus saw a significant spike in consumers signing up for the service.
